Chargers support Forsyth County Schools

Photovoltaic solar charging stations were dedicated at two EV Challenge participating high schools in September and October.

Winston Salem-Forsyth County Career Center dedicated its station on September 26, 2003, and Topsail High School's station was dedicated on October 2. The solar panels will be used to recharge the batteries on the schools' student-built electric vehicles; each is rated to produce enough electricity to drive an electric vehicle 23,000 miles per year. Funds for the project came from the Division of Air Quality of the NC Department of Energy and Natural Resources, from the State Energy Officephoto by Jayne Howard, and the EV Challenge.
