EV Challenge Unveils New Name!
The EV Challenge unveiled it's new name and logo at the NC State Fair in October. The program will now be called the SMARTT Challenge. SMARTT is an acronym for "Students Making Advancements in Renewable Transportation Technology". The name change and updated logo reflect the program's revised curriculum, which has expanded it's focus to include additional alternative transportation fuels and technologies. The SMARTT Challenge is the country’s premier alternative fuel education program, unique because of its integration of several disciplines, including math, science, engineering, language arts and more. The SMARTT Challenge is sponsored by the nonprofit Carolina Electric Vehicle Coalition, Inc. (CEVC), based in Wake County.

More about the SMARTT Challenge
For over a decade, the nationally recognized SMARTT Challenge (formerly
called the EV Challenge) has been introducing students and the communities
they live in to the important environmental, energy and economic issues
associated with alternative transportation fuels. Each year thousands of
high school students experience a unique opportunity to design and convert
gasoline vehicles to electric power, while middle school students design
and build model solar race cars.
The SMARTT Challenge is looking for new partners: individuals, schools, businesses and organizations interested in advancing the understanding of issues associated with clean fuel technologies. If you or your group believe alternative fuel education is important, contact us today! For more details, watch a 5-minute video about the Challenge (WindowsMedia) or go to About SMARTT Challenge.
